The beauty of Polish Christmas traditions – a shared table symbolizing faith and hospitality.

Dear Friends and Supporters,

As we approach this most sacred time of year, when the light of the Christmas star shines upon us, we extend our warmest wishes for a blessed and peaceful Christmas season.

The birth of Jesus Christ in a humble manger reminds us of the power of faith, hope, and love. May this season bring you closer to God, strengthen your family bonds, and fill your heart with the joy of giving and receiving kindness. Let the timeless carols and prayers of Christmas inspire hope and renewal in your life.

As part of our mission to preserve heritage, we reflect on how Polish and Christian traditions intertwine with ancient Slavic customs, celebrating life and light during this winter season. Practices like leaving an empty chair at the table for an unexpected guest, sharing the wafer (oplatek), or lighting candles reflect universal values of hospitality, unity, and respect—values cherished across cultures.

The Christmas Eve supper, known as Wigilia, is a beautiful symbol of togetherness and peace. The traditional dishes served are steeped in history and faith, connecting families with their ancestors and the natural world. This is a time to honor our roots while looking forward to the future with hope.

We wish for your homes to be filled with the warmth of meaningful conversations, children’s laughter, and the harmony that nurtures strong communities. Let every act of kindness, every heartfelt word, and every carol sung around your Christmas tree remind you of the beauty of our shared Christian values and cultural heritage.

May the Christ Child find a home in your heart, bringing you peace that surpasses all understanding and strength to share His love with those around you.

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom He is pleased!” (Luke 2:14)

With blessings and heartfelt wishes,
Michal Kurzdym – Executive Director, together with the entire Team.
